Real Life Emoji Keyboard!

735K views · 11 years ago · demo · dated

Tom Scott shows a physical emoji keyboard he built, with every emoji of the time on 14 full keyboards covered in thousands of hand-placed stickers. It is driven by AutoHotKey scripting.

HN people cite it whenever emoji input or odd keyboards come up, as a delightful stunt and an example of AutoHotKey abuse.

“Here's one that has all the important Unicode characters... well, all the emojis.”

Fun AutoHotKey abuse: Tom Scott's emoji keyboard[0]. It's every single emoji (at the time of recording) on 14 full keyboards with 1,000s of hand-placed bespoke stickers. He goes into more detail here[1], but it's beautiful. [0]: ▶ this video [1]: link

Or if editors swap ***, :fediverse:, etc. for it automatically. There's no* emoji keyboards, but people use emoji all the time. * Well, there is, but there isn't a widely available consumer product ▶ this video
