The Story of the Power Glove

2.4M views · 11 years ago · documentary · historical

The Gaming Historian tells the story of the Nintendo Power Glove, the glove-style controller made for the NES. It covers where the product came from and how it worked as a way of controlling games.

HN people share it as a well-told history of a famously odd input device, and refer back to it when new sensors or gesture controllers appear.

Isn't this just the same tech as the first Nintendo Power Glove had? ▶ this video They put light down a tube and then measured the light to trigger a key press. That's why bending your fingers/hand did anything. The revised the mechanism in the later generations.
