The curious case of user interfaces - Rasmus Andersson (Config 2023)

24K views · 3 years ago · talk · intermediate · evergreen

Rasmus Andersson, a designer at Figma and creator of the Inter typeface, gives a Config 2023 talk on the overlooked details of user interfaces. It includes a segment on text cursors and other small interface behaviors that turn out to be surprisingly hard to get right.

HN users cite it for the cursor segment, which they find fascinating as an example of hard, invisible problems in everyday UI.

“it's really fascinating if you're interested in people having to work out surprisingly hard, invisible problems.”

This reminds me of a really cool talk about cursors: ▶ this video It's a long video but the segment I mean is only a few minutes, and it's really fascinating if you're interested in people having to work out surprisingly hard, invisible problems.
