Eagle Mode

A demo of Eagle Mode, a zooming user interface in which you navigate files and applications by zooming in and out of a continuous space, not by opening windows.

HN people raise it as prior art whenever zooming and spatial interfaces come up, one calling it non-ironically the best file manager they ever used.

“it was non-ironically the best file manager I've ever used”

I used Eagle Mode[1][2] for a number of years, and it was non-ironically the best file manager I've ever used. I only stopped because it required dozens of very out-of-date packages for its preview features. But the point of whimsical demos is inspiration, like a concept car, not complete realism. Eagle Mode (▶ this video) uses the zoomable UI concept and takes it to an extreme.
