Blender 3.0 Beginner Tutorial - Part 1

9.3M views · 4 years ago · tutorial · dated

Blender Guru's Blender 3.0 beginner tutorial, the first part of the well-known donut series. It teaches the interface and basic modeling by building a donut, and is aimed at people new to Blender.

HN calls it the rite of passage for Blender newcomers and the default answer when someone asks how to start.

“It's kind of a right of passage for Blender newbies.”

Youtube is your friend: it is a bottomless pit of Blender tutorials from the very basic step-by-step "learn how to use the UI" to super-advanced topics. This guy has an extensive collections on both basic and advanced stuff: ▶ this video

100% agreed, the Donut tutorial is great. Make sure to use the 3.0 version instead of the 2.8 version, he released an updated tutorial with the improved Blender UI: ▶ this video PS, definitely use an external mouse! You cannot really only use the trackpad/keyboard for Blender effectively.

Make the donut: ▶ this video It's kind of a right of passage for Blender newbies. I learned (well.. I'm learning) Blender this year and I'm glad I did. It's very intimidating at first, but you get the hang of it, and then you can't imagine a world without it. I now even prefer it to stuff like Photoshop for doing simple graphics work.
