Pouff - Grocery Trip

3.5M views · 11 years ago · animation · dated

A music video by Pouff, titled Grocery Trip, made with neural-network image generation in the Deep Dream style. Supermarket scenes melt into surreal, shifting dreamscapes.

HN people point to it as a striking example of Deep Dream imagery that resembles a psychedelic experience.

“I believe for anybody who has ever tried psychedelics seeing these was a watershed moment.”

have you seen "Deep Dream"? link and ▶ this video are excellent examples. I believe for anybody who has ever tried psychedelics seeing these was a watershed moment. It seems almost impossible that an algorithm could so faithfully reproduce the experience without somehow having recreated some fundamental structure of the human brain. That is compounded by the fact that this wasn't the result of actually trying to do so, but of an open-ended experiment of creating feedback loops in NN layers.

Reminds me about this music video: ▶ this video I guess they've used similar tech.
