Live Coding Shaders - an eye

64K views · 14 years ago · demo · intermediate · evergreen

Inigo Quilez live-codes an eye in GLSL, building a procedural eyeball in a shader from pure math while the result updates in real time. He walks through the shapes, shading and details step by step.

HN people share it as a showcase of how much can be painted with maths and of Quilez's shader skills.

“his shader-writing skills are pretty incredible”

I'm not sure on the author's approach in this case, but here's a live coding video of Inigo Quilez going over the basics of creating an eye in GLSL, he seems to take the hand-editing route ▶ this video (You can see some more of his stuff on link - his shader-writing skills are pretty incredible)
